Design & Build Quality
The Luxe Q is like a smaller, simplified version of the Luxe PM40. It’s a little shorter and thinner and it’s not as wide which makes it slightly more portable and concealable. It’s actually a very nice and comfortable size for a pod vape. It doesn’t weigh much at all either. For me, this is the perfect size and weight for a pod device.
The fit and finish are excellent. The sides of the Luxe Q are contoured by a shiny gunmetal bezel that wraps around the bottom as well as the top of the device just under the pod. The front and back of the Luxe Q have soft-touch, hard panels that are textured to look like crocodile leather. The brown color of my review unit is nice because the pattern is subtle and doesn’t stand out too much. I’m not a huge fan of how this pattern looks on some of the brighter colors but it’s certainly a unique look, that’s for sure.
The build quality of this device is high. All of the components are expertly put together and fit in place perfectly. The panels don’t creak or move and neither does the bezel. The Luxe Q just feels solid when you hold it in your hand.
On one side of the bezel is a small airflow slot that feeds air into the bottom of the pod. You can adjust the airflow on the Luxe Q by rotating the pod 180° for a slightly tighter or looser draw. The pod clicks into the battery and sits securely. There’s a little bit of wiggle if you really try wiggling the pod but none in day to day, regular use.
When the pod is inserted there’s a small transparent strip along the bottom and sides of the pod that remains visible above the battery. This is a similar design to SMOK’s Novo line of devices but it’s much more practical and usable here on the Luxe Q. The way I use it is if I can’t see my ejuice anymore through the side of the pod, I know that it’s getting low and it’s time to fill up. Really useful design element here as it saves you from having to remove the pod and check.
The mouthpiece on the pod is nicely shaped to be comfortable to vape on. It also serves as the fill cap. With the pod still inserted you can push the mouthpiece forwards or backwards to pop it off the pod. From here you can insert your bottle nozzle into the large hole on one side of the pod (not the hole in the middle) and easily fill it up. The fill hole has a seal with an X cut into it that opens up when you insert your nozzle and self-closes when you remove it. It works well and doesn’t allow any ejuice to escape from the fill hole. The pods for the Luxe Q hold up to 2ml of ejuice.
Pods
There are only two pod options available for the Luxe Q and you get 1 of each with the kit:
- 1 x Luxe Q 0.8Ω Mesh Pod
- 1 x Luxe Q 1.2Ω Mesh Pod
Both of these pods can be used for either regular or nicotine salt eliquids. I used a few 50/50, 36mg nicotine salt ejuices from Solace Vapor with these pods and both of them vaped excellently.
The 1.2Ω pod provides a tight MTL draw no matter which way you insert the pod. One way is a slightly tighter draw than the other way but they’re both relatively tight MTL draws. Flavor from this pod is really good. Vapor is nice and warm. The only issue I’ve had is that one of the two 1.2Ω pods that I used would struggle with the draw-activation. It would work fine sometimes but other times I would have to really pull on the pod to get it to activate. The other 1.2Ω pod worked fine though so it seems like it was just a bad pod.
The 0.8Ω pod has slightly more kick to it on the draw than the 1.2Ω pod and the vapor is a bit warmer too. This pod can go from a MTL draw to a loose MTL draw depending on which way you insert the pod. The loose MTL draw from this pod is much looser than anything you get from the 1.2Ω pod. Out of the two, I prefer vaping with this pod. The throat hit is a little more aggressive and I find the warmer draw to be a bit more to my preference. Flavor is just as good, if not better than the 1.2Ω pod. I had no issues with the draw activation at all.
As far as other performance issues, I’ve had none. These pods are built with what Vaporesso calls “SSS Leak-Resistant Technology” and, while I don’t know exactly what this means, it seems to do its job. These pods haven’t leaked at all and I haven’t even had any condensation on the bottom of the pods.
Battery Life & Charging
The Luxe Q is a small device but it has a decently sized battery relative to its size. The 1000mAh battery in the Luxe Q lasts for approximately 2 pods worth of ejuice if you’re using the 1.2Ω pod and 1 and a half pods if you’re using the 0.8Ω pod. The LED battery indicator is located on the back of the device towards the center of the panel. This LED lights up in 3 colors
to indicate your battery charge level:
- Green: 70%-100%
- Blue: 30%-70%
- Red: 0-30%
The Luxe Q charges at 1A using a Type-C cable. It’s not super quick to charge but it doesn’t take too long either. I timed the charge at 66 minutes which, considering it’s a 1000mAh battery, is a little above average charge time.
Verdict
Vaporesso have done a really great job with the Luxe Q. It’s very easy to use which I think will be attractive to those trying to get into vaping as well as those who are new to vaping. You can pop the top of the pod off, fill it up, and draw to vape. It doesn’t get more simple or easy to use than this. The flavor and throat hit from both pods is also excellent which will help those using it to stick to vaping.
Aside from the excellent performance, the small size, light weight, and excellent build quality are big positive points for the Luxe Q. If you want something that is easy to use, that delivers on flavor, and that doesn’t have any performance issues, you should definitely check out the Luxe Q.
